Na verdade, eu tinha visto tempos atrás um callback no Picasso fuçando o código no github, mas, se não me engano, é recente e não estava documentado ou incluso no sample.

Alguém tem opinião qual é melhor ?

O que reparei até agora de diferente em cada um :

. O AUIL tem um callback para quando a imagem for carregada (permite exibir um progress bar) enquanto o Picasso só permite placeholder e parece mais atualizado (10 dias atrás no momento do post).

. O Picasso é mantido pela equipe da Square.
