Nós mantemos a compatibilidade com api 8. Num Galaxy Duos (device shit) se não tiver o LDPI/ic_launcher o ícone da aplicação fica o Droid.

Em quais casos são necessários gerar imagem para LDPI? 

Estamos pensando em remover essa pasta dos projetos.
