Allef, nesse caso, dê uma boa olhada no GO, pois já é possível cross-compilar pra ARM e uma simples, porém muito poderosa integração com C. Não conheço esse módulo, mas já vi gente fazendo firmwares pra raspberry e Arduino mega.
Go tem uma sintaxe bem mais palatável que C, com todos os benefícios de linguagens de alto nível.
